This course will teach you the basics of how to create an e-mail account using Gmail and search whatever subject, destination or site you are keen on; the course will open for you the window of information available via the Internet and show you how easy it is to communicate electronically. Learn how to find information using the Google and Yahoo search engines; download documents and forms of interest to you as well as printing online pages [television travel and lifestyle shows factsheets, travel schedules, timetables, recipes, maps, etc.].
A basic knowledge of using a personal computer is necessary e.g. completion of the College's "Computers for Anyone" or "Computer the Works" is recommended.

This is a basic course for people of all ages who have never used computers before. Give your children, grandchildren and friends a buzz by speaking to them in today's digital language. The following topics will be covered:
- Introduction to a computer and its parts. [What are they? How do they interact? Basic connections, Terminology]
- Maintenance and basic care.
- Getting into your computer.
- Basic keyboarding skills.
- Basic Word processing [from Microsoft Office]
- Saving your work and creating folders.
- Introduction to email.

Computers for Anyone - Stage 2

This course is suitable for anyone who has completed Stage 1 or who would like to expand their knowledge and develop their skills. This course may also be useful for a refresher course if you have not used a personal computer for some time. The following topics will be covered:
- Review of Stage 1.
- Developing Word processing skills with Microsoft Office [Word]
- File management [create, delete, rename, move, cut, paste and copy a folder].
- Printing.
- Web browsing. [Internet Explorer]

- Searching the Internet for information [search engines such as Google, MSN].
- Introduction to basic spreadsheet [Excel].
