HLTFA301B Apply first aid
This two-day course includes practical and theoretical training in safely responding to a first aid emergency and in developing skills in managing an incident until medical assistance arrives. The course is the preferred basic level first aid training by most industries which require staff or prospective staff to hold a nationally-recognised first aid qualification. The BCC course covers all of the critical first aid information and necessary skills needed to safely initiate a first aid response in critical situations. Aspects covered include resuscitation and managing the unconscious casualty, choking, shock, bleeding, wounds, fractures, head/neck and spinal injury, poisons, bites and stings and basic CPR. Assessment will include oral questioning, observations, case study scenarios, written answers to questions and multiple choice answers. A supplementary assessment can be organised should a participant not meet the minimum achievement on the first attempt. Students assessed as Competent will receive the Statement of Attainment HLTFA301B Apply first aid.
